There is new life in the soil for every man. There is healing in the trees for tired minds and for our overburdened spirits, there is strength in the hills, if only we will lift up our eyes. Remember that nature is your great restorer.

CALVIN COOLIDGE, speech, Jul. 25, 1924

Paddling Season?

Spring fever seems to have struck sooner than normal for most people.  While there's over a foot of snow on the ground and two feet of ice on the lakes on the Gunflint Trail the lack of winter like weather elsewhere has people itching for spring to come.  While it's still a few months before we'll be paddling the lakes of the canoe country it's never too early to start thinking about your canoe trip.

We've been taking reservations for the upcoming paddling season and the more we talk about canoeing the more excited we get.  We're here to help you plan your wilderness canoe trip whenever you are ready.

For those of you who would rather have a shelter over your head we have cabins available for your wilderness vacation too.  The bookings are coming in earlier than normal for our lodging so if you're thinking about coming up the Gunflint Trail then give us a call so we can get you a spot reserved.

We're looking forward to another season at Voyageur Canoe Outfitters and we hope you are too!

Wilderness Permits are Plentiful
Boundary Waters & Quetico Park

The good news is we've been able to reserve every entry point permit we have inquired about this year.  We were a little concerned without the Boundary Waters lottery but those concerns were unfounded for the Gunflint Trail side of the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness.

There are plenty of permits available for both the BWCA and Quetico Park.  We will gladly reserve your permits for you so just give us a call 1-888-CANOEIT or drop us an email.  Reserving permits for the Quetico is much easier now with the online reservation system.   It's great to be able to check availability  online!

We still encourage you to make your permit reservations as soon as you know your travel dates and entry point.  Before you know it summer will be upon us and you'll be ready for your wilderness canoe trip.

Fishing in the Quetico this Summer?

Now you can even get your Ontario Fishing License online!  You'll want to make sure you have your computer hooked up to a printer and all of the right information.  You can find out what is needed by checking out this blog entry for all of the information including license options.  You can also purchase your license via telephone by calling MNR's interactive phone line toll-free at 1-800-288-1155.

When's the Best Time to Paddle the Wilderness Canoe Country?

Any time you can get away from it all and take a canoe camping trip in the wilderness is the perfect time.  I suggest taking advantage of every opportunity you get to visit the BWCA and Quetico Park.  But let's just say you can take a canoe trip any time you want this summer, what can help make your decision easier?  Check out a couple of my blog posts about the benefits of paddling in May and June and keep your eyes open for more months to come.

We hope to see you in 2012!
Give us a call to reserve your place in the wilderness.
